Epidemiologists Jay Bhattacharya and Martin Kulldorff joined Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita in criticizing the federal government for spreading Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) misinformation.
They filed a comment in the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) proceeding, accusing the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other health organizations of promoting falsehoods and shoddy research that “shattered the public’s trust in science and public health,” which will “take decades to repair.”
Rokita, Bhattacharya and Kulldorff also took aim at official government figures for COVID-19 deaths.
“The government spent close to $5 trillion fighting COVID-19, but still can’t provide Hoosiers with an accurate number of deaths or hospitalizations from COVID-19,” Rokita said in a press release. In line with this, former Illinois Department of Health Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike acknowledged during an April 2020 media conference that COVID death counts were overstated.
They also mentioned the “misleading messages” by National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Director Dr. Anthony Fauci regarding masks, lockdowns, vaccines and asymptomatic testing. (Related: The worst Covid MISINFORMATION SPREADERS on the planet.)
The trio also echoed various allegations made by a deluge of healthcare workers in 2020, several of whom criticized the lockdowns and restrictions as being more harmful than the virus. Several studies indicate that these measures are particularly harmful to children.
Government officials have screwed up in relation to COVID-19 measures on numerous occasions.
Early in the pandemic, Fauci was seen putting down his mask and neglecting social distancing during a Washington Nationals’ baseball game.
Last August, New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wore a mask while taking a picture before removing it when she thought the cameras had stopped recording.
Oregon State Senators Kim Thatcher and Dennis Lincecum earlier asked U.S. Attorney Scott Asphaug to assemble a grand jury to investigate how the pandemic was being measured. Rokita, Bhattacharya and Kulldorff called the CDC figures “inaccurate” for failing to differentiate COVID as the principal, contributing or incidental cause of death.
Audits of death certificates in California’s Santa Clara and Alameda counties found that about 25 percent wrongly recorded COVID as the main cause of death in accordance with pressure on doctors to blame COVID “even when the medical facts suggest otherwise.”
The unparalleled mass asymptomatic testing and the CDC’s refusal to carry out “national surveys of medical charts” also make the numbers untrustworthy. The trio added that health officials misrepresented randomized controlled trials designed to test COVID-19 vaccines against symptomatic infection by claiming that these trials showed the vaccines stop transmission.
The result of all the misinformation was vaccine passports, school closures and other harmful lockdowns without practical basis. As an example, they mentioned Sweden’s positive results from keeping schools open “without masks, social distancing or testing.” Sweden has near-zero overall excess death despite avoiding a lockdown.
