Rep. Matt Gaetz quarantined after flying on Air Force One with Pres. Trump

Following a weekend party bash at Mar-a-Lago and flight back to Washington aboard Air Force One with President Donald Trump, Representative Matt Gaetz of Florida was notified that he may have been exposed to the Wuhan coronavirus (CoVid-19), prompting him to self-quarantine.

Nearly two weeks ago, Gaetz is said to have interacted with an individual at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) who has since been confirmed to have the Wuhan coronavirus (CoVid-19). Because of this, Gaetz may have contracted it himself, though he has yet to manifest any symptoms.

Before learning that he might have the Wuhan coronavirus (CoVid-19), Gaetz reportedly mocked the pandemic on the House floor, arriving with a gas mask that was meant to poke fun at the situation. Gaetz claims this never happened, and has nevertheless been tested for the Wuhan coronavirus (CoVid-19), but is still awaiting results.

“Congressman Gaetz was informed today that he came into contact with a CPAC attendee 11 days ago who tested positive for COVID-19,” the Florida Republican’s staff wrote in a series of tweets. “Congressman Gaetz had expected COVID-19 to impact Congress, given the elevated frequency of travel and human contact, and demonstrated his concern last week on the House Floor.”

On his own Twitter account, Gaetz indicated that he’s under a doctor’s “usual precautionary recommendations,” and that he’ll remain self-quarantined “until the 14-day period expires this week.”

Gaetz is the fourth member of Congress thus far to go into self-quarantine, joining Senator Ted Cruz, Rep. Doug Collins, and Rep. Paul Gosar, all of whom also came into contact with known cases of the Wuhan coronavirus (CoVid-19).

Seeing has how Gaetz has been partying it up with Trump over the past several days, the obvious next question is: Has our Commander-in-Chief also been exposed to the Wuhan coronavirus (CoVid-19), and should he, too, go into self-quarantine?

After all, it was when Gaetz was aboard Air Force One with Trump that he learned about his prior contact with an infected person at CPAC. After receiving the news, Gaetz reportedly “sat in a separate section” of the plane, this being his version of a self-quarantine.

“Most viruses and other germs do not spread easily on airplanes,” reads the website of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which has yet to produce the one million coronavirus testing kits that President Trump promised would be available by the end of last week.

According to Ben Terris from The Washington Post, the president wasn’t all that concerned about keeping his distance from Gaetz during the flight, and in fact “coaxed” Gaetz into leaving his “closed up” quarantine room to join Trump at the front of the plane.

“He was not hyper cautious about being in the same space that I was in,” Gaetz reportedly told Terris, according to Terris. “I refused to go into his office, I stood outside the door. I told him he could talk from that distance.”

Amazingly, Rep. Collins had also been in close proximity to Trump in the days leading up to his discovery that he, too, had potentially been exposed to the Wuhan coronavirus (CoVid-19). In other words, Trump has had contact with at least two different people who may have the virus themselves.

“I’ve been with the president for the last three days,” Gaetz told the media. “I was at a fundraiser with the president this afternoon and he was shaking hands, taking pictures, just like he always does.”
